Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer III is a senior technical leader responsible for the design, implementation, integration, support, and optimization of IGT's enterprise gaming solutions and infrastructure. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) across multiple technologies including Windows and Linux operating systems, Microsoft SQL Server, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, storage platforms, cloud technologies, and containerized environments.
Working independently and leading cross-functional teams, the Systems Engineer III provides technical leadership for complex customer implementations, infrastructure modernization initiatives, major software upgrades, and critical production support activities. This role partners closely with customers, project managers, software engineering, product management, and executive stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of highly available, secure, and compliant gaming environments.
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the lead technical resource for complex implementations, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernization projects.
- Provide architectural guidance and technical oversight for customer environments.
- Lead technical discovery, solution design, capacity planning, and deployment strategies.
- Mentor Systems Engineers I and II through knowledge transfer, coaching, and technical leadership
System Integration & Deployment
- Design, deploy, configure, and support IGT gaming systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Lead enterprise-class installations across multiple properties and jurisdictions.
- Execute complex upgrades, migrations, consolidations, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Ensure deployments meet performance, security, availability, and regulatory requirements.
Infrastructure & Platform Support
- Provide advanced administration and troubleshooting for but not limited to:
- Microsoft Windows Server
- Linux-based platforms
- Microsoft SQL Server
- VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV
- SAN, NAS, and distributed storage platforms
- Enterprise networking technologies
- Demonstrate strong enterprise networking knowledge and independently configure, analyze, and troubleshoot routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, network segmentation, and connectivity across data center, WAN, and customer environments.
Networking & Security
- Support cybersecurity initiatives, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, SSL/TLS implementation, and identity management solutions.
- Ensure adherence to gaming regulatory requirements and security standards.
Major Incident & Escalation Management
- Act as a senior escalation point for critical customer issues and business-impacting incidents.
- Develop recommendations to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Automation & Innovation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, and quality.
- Assist with tool development and AI initiatives to improve work environment.
Customer Engagement
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Deliver executive and technical presentations regarding architecture, project status, and operational health.
- Participate in pre-sales consultations, technical reviews, and strategic customer initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience leading technical implementations or infrastructure projects.
- Advanced experience with but not limited to:
- Microsoft Windows Server

- Strong enterprise networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, network segmentation, and systematic troubleshooting across data center and WAN environments
- Virtualization platforms
- Infrastructure troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Proven ability to manage complex technical projects and customer engagements.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain gaming licenses and security clearances as required.
- Ability to travel up to 20% based on business needs.
