Role Overview

Role: Counsel (Commercial)

Department: IGT Legal Team (PlayDigital)

Location: Manchester (Media City/Salford Quays) Hybrid work schedule, currently 2 days a week in the office. 

 

The IGT Legal Department is seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional who will provide general commercial law support for our rapidly expanding PlayDigital business unit due to a recent company acquisition. This role will mainly focus on review, negotiation, and drafting a wide range of commercial agreements, including content licensing agreements, technology supply agreements and partner agreements, and also provide an opportunity to support the business on broader corporate and growth projects. 
As part of the IGT Legal Department (which comprises approximately 45 people globally), you will work in a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performance environment, helping IGT manage a wide range of legal and business challenges. 

In the UK, the Legal Team consists of 7 lawyers across offices in Manchester and London who support the PlayDigital and land-based gaming businesses. This position will be part of the Global PlayDigital Legal team, which has 5 lawyers in the UK. This position will report to the Senior Corporate Counsel located in Manchester. 

Responsibilities

•    Work in a fast-paced environment in collaboration with business partners, customers and other lawyers within the group to provide pragmatic commercial advice.
•    Work directly with managers in the PlayDigital business teams in Europe and North America, providing day-to-day commercial contracts advice and support and providing strategic advice relating to expansion projects.
•    Draft, review, negotiate and interpret a wide variety of B2B contracts with customers and partners worldwide for the supply and licensing of digital games, technology and services. 
•    Identify and advise internal clients on legal risks, mitigation, and resolving a wide variety of issues that arise in existing commercial relationships. 
•    Assist with the streamlining of contract structures as part of consolidation and integration of businesses post acquisition.  
•    Assist with corporate governance, maintaining legal precedents and management of the legal contract database.
•    Contributing to global legal team projects and strategic objectives. 
•    Opportunities to participate in various office and company-wide Corporate Social Responsibility, Diversity & Inclusion, Wellbeing and charitable initiatives and events.

Requirements:

•    0-3 years PQE (preferably in a law firm) (as a guide only; we will consider all candidates that demonstrate they meet our key requirements regardless of PQE)
•    Good understanding of Contract/Commercial law. 
•    Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and ideally technology contracts.
•    Bachelors Degree and Legal Practice Course Certificate (or equivalent). 
•    Self-motivated team player with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
•    Customer-oriented interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with large cross-functional teams (including representatives from finance, regulatory/compliance, operations and People & Culture (HR)).
•    Ability to communicate legal concepts and issues effectively to internal business clients at all levels of the organisation and excellent written skills.
•    Personal energy to proactively address situations and adopt a positive approach.
•    Creative problem solving skills. 

Preferred but not essential:

•    Experience in Data Protection and Intellectual Property desirable.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat (including AdobeSign).
