You'll partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Product, Technology, Compliance, banking partners, and payment providers to ensure payment activity is accurate, traceable, scalable, and well-controlled.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop a team responsible for payment accounting operations, funds management, reconciliations, settlement support, financial reporting, and exception management.
  • Oversee daily payment activity across multiple bank accounts, payment providers, customer programs, and internal systems.
  • Ensure payment transactions, settlement activity, bank activity, and system outputs are accurately reconciled while identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Establish and strengthen financial controls, reconciliation processes, documentation standards, and audit readiness.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Technology, Compliance, banks, and payment providers to improve operational processes and resolve complex issues.
  • Support onboarding of new payment providers, customers, payment methods, bank accounts, and operational workflows.
  • Own management, operational, and customer-facing reporting for the Payment Services portfolio.
  • Improve reporting quality, automation, governance, and visibility through Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Databricks, AI, and other reporting technologies.
  • Lead reporting modernization initiatives, including requirements gathering, testing, validation, documentation, and adoption.
  • Coach and develop team members while fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in payment operations, accounting operations, financial operations, treasury, revenue operations, reconciliation, settlement support, or another high-volume transaction environment.
  • 3+ years leading teams, operational workflows, reconciliation functions, reporting teams, or cross-functional process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience overseeing funds management, payment accounting, bank activity, settlement support, reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Strong understanding of payment flows, transaction lifecycles, accounting impacts, settlement timing, exceptions, and reporting governance.
  • Experience producing management, operational, portfolio, and customer-facing reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Databricks, or similar reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Experience improving reporting or reconciliation processes through automation, BI tools, AI, or process standardization.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including reconciliations, reporting automation, pivot tables, and complex financial analysis.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance leadership responsibilities while remaining hands-on when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • CPA or experience in public accounting, treasury, internal audit, SOX, controllership, payments, banking, fintech, gaming, or regulated financial services.
  • Understanding of ACH, wires, card processing, settlement flows, payment providers, bank accounts, and third-party payment integrations.
  • Experience promoting reporting governance, dashboard adoption, data literacy, or self-service reporting.
  • SQL, Python, or other analytical coding experience.

Keys to Success

  • Lead a high-performing team that consistently delivers accurate, timely, and well-controlled payment accounting operations.
  • Build a culture focused on reconciliation discipline, ownership, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen financial controls while improving operational efficiency and reducing manual processes.
  • Modernize reporting through automation, BI tools, and standardized reporting governance.
  • Develop strong partnerships across Finance, Accounting, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and external providers.
