Overview

The Sr. Application System Administrator we are looking for will be part of our Global system operations team based in Austin TX/Reno NV or from a remote location.  Together with our global colleagues will provide 7x24x365 support for our Lottery Gaming and PlayDigital verticals.  The successful candidate will have operations and support experience to include monitoring, diagnosing and escalating issues with our complete Linux based stack that our various applications perform on.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for production environments 
• Be able to support software release deployments
• Be able to solve majority of the routine issues/problems and able to troubleshoot issues/problems along and escalate to corresponding teams
• Be able to actively improve our operational environment, such as, tools, processes, and automation. 

Qualifications

•    8+ years hands on experience in Linux system administration (RHEL/CentOS) 
•    Strong interpersonal and stakeholder facing communication skills
•    Advanced troubleshooting skills for Java based applications with Apache (ActiveMQ/Artemis)
•    Experience with virtualization software (VMware)
•    Solid understanding of advanced network analysis techniques
•    Solid understanding of relational databases (DB2/Postgres/MySQL) 
•    Conceptual knowledge and practical experience within a DevOps culture
•    Willing to participate in on-call rotation for weekend and public holidays
•    Familiarity with Git 
Preferred Qualifications
•    Intermediate experience with industry standard monitoring tools (ELK, Nagios, Tivoli, Jolokia)
•    Solid scripting skills in Bash, Python, any other scripting/programming experience 
•    Strong understanding and experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
•    Flexibility or experience working with international teams/time zones
•    Experience with training and/or mentoring junior level team members
