As a Game Mathematician II at IGT, you’ll use your skills in math and gaming to help create interactive experiences that captivate players around the world. Working with a collaborative team, you’ll blend mathematical precision with creative design, shaping game mechanics that are engaging and thoughtfully developed. This role will challenge you to push boundaries in game math design, encouraging growth and innovation as you develop detailed math models, balanced pacing, and player-focused features. - Create and own the development of game logic for Class 2 and Class 3 games.
- Generate initial Excel-based math models, par sheets, XML control files, and software simulations to support and test game concepts.
- Contribute to game math design by creating key materials, including game concepts, messaging, marketing communication, game rules, pay tables, and elements that impact entertainment, pacing, and player engagement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including art, audio, and engineering, to ensure math models and game mechanics align with overall design goals.
- Play test games in development, providing detailed feedback on all aspects of the player experience.
- Optimize game mechanics and implement changes in game math design based on testing, player feedback, and live performance data to enhance engagement and retention.
- Ensure that math designs comply with relevant jurisdictions and industry standards.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, player profiles, and relevant markets, conducting research and analyzing data to identify opportunities for new game features.
- Provides oversight and leadership to the team of artists, animators, and programmers who build out the final game level or product; ensures full understanding of the original concept and vision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field (such as Game Design, Engineering, or Computer Science).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a math-related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in casino gaming, with a proven track record in successful game design.
- Strong understanding of mathematics, particularly in areas like Combinatorics, Probability Theory, Statistics, and Graph Theory.
- A creative thinker with a strong technical design sensibility and the ability to envision engaging gameplay experiences.
- Expertise in Excel for math modeling, with VBA knowledge considered a plus for task automation.
- Strong programming skills in C++ or C#, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and promoting innovative solutions.
- Long-standing passion for casino gaming, including a keen interest in player engagement and preferences.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- A naturally curious and teachable mind, eager to explore new ideas in game design.

At IGT, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $50,482/yr - $115,000/yr. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses.
