Overview
We're seeking a hard-working Systems Business Analyst who has the ability to rapidly absorb new concepts, create top-notch documentation, and efficiently share complex subject matter with diverse collaborators.
The Systems BA works on projects with customers and internal stakeholders to elicit and document requirements, providing technical expertise, facilitating the exchange of information, and contributing to the design of impactful solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of a progressive next gen system. This role offers travel opportunities, though being able to travel is not a requirement.
Responsibilities
- Produce high quality requirement deliverables such as Business Requirements, Software Requirements, User Stories and Use Cases.
- Encourage change requests to elaborate on essential features and adjustments to existing functionalities.
- Gather requirements from various inputs including existing documentation and discussions with authorities, drawing from own knowledge and experience to fill the gaps.
- Develop work products iteratively by seeking early agreement on high-level concepts, maintaining collaborator engagement, and reacting to feedback.
- Participate in the design of solutions by helping bridge the gap between the needs and the solution, taking into consideration the constraints of the project.
- Work closely with architecture, design, development and QA teams to ensure solutions meet the desired outcomes and quality standards.
- Attend both internal and external meetings and provide clear updates on the progress of work items and tasks.
- Analyze application integrations and facilitate discussions with business partners to resolve issues and/or improve application performance.
- Analyze business data to support decision making and effectively present information.
- Based on user needs and a detailed understanding of business systems and industry requirements, formulate and define scope and objectives. Consider how technology can be applied to the current and future business environment.
- Evaluate alternative procedural and systematic solutions that meet needs while maintaining business standards.
- Discover applicable technology alternatives to given business problems with the assistance and direction of the Product Managers.
Qualifications
- Post secondary diploma in a related field and 3+ Years of experience as a Systems Business Analyst.
- Other combinations of relevant experience and formal training would also be considered.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly adaptable to change and able to quickly adjust to shifting priorities.
- Technically inclined, able to quickly learn new technologies and concepts.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lead conversations and build consensus.
- Ability to empathise with users, seeking to understand the people who use our products, their needs, and their motivations and constraints.
- Able to analyze and understand large amounts of data, and to extract the important information.
- Experienced in the Software Delivery Lifecycle. Familiarity with agile frameworks, sprint cycles, backlog prioritization, and iterative development is considered an asset. Software Development and/or Software Quality Assurance experience would also be considered an asset.
- Technical proficiency with transaction-based engines, APIs, and databases would be considered an asset.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience with Atlassian JIRA would be considered an asset.
- Experience with requirement management tools such as IBM DOORS and/or Siemens Polarion would be considered an asset.
- Experience producing UX Specifications and wireframing would be considered an asset.
