Overall Objective and Purpose
The Accountant I supports the Accounting Supervisor and plays a major role in ensuring the accurate entry of accounting data in a timely manner and maintaining the General Ledger with integrity, according to International Financial Reporting Standards and the company’s policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Petty cash management and accounting.
- Bank Reconciliations
- Revenue recognition
- Accounts Receivable Management
- Cash/Bank Receipt Management
- Related Party Transactions and Billing.
- Statutory payments and reconciliations eg. GCT and Payroll Taxes.
- Prepayments and Other Assets
- Entering accounting transactions into SAP accounting software
- Balance Sheet Movement Reporting & Analysis
- Prepares periodic accounting analyses or reports as assigned.
- Other assigned balance sheet reconciliations, especially accounts in relations to desk duties
- Final accounts preparation and submission for Corporate Accounting
- Assist with co-ordination of internal and external audit and the associated deliverables.
- Liaise with other departments, customer, vendors, bankers, auditors and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
- At least an Associate Degree in Accounting or ACCA Level II (or any other suitable professional accounting designation)
EXPERIENCE
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar accounting position
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, and standards (IFRS, US GAAPs, and IAS).
- Detail oriented
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Advanced knowledge and use of office productivity tools (Excel and other MS Office products, accounting software, etc.)
- Working knowledge of SAP System 6.3 General Ledger modules preferred
- Exercises independent judgment in creating and selecting ways to complete work assignments and with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision
- High degree of professionalism and capable of being entrusted with “confidential” information.
- Support an environment focused on customer satisfaction and company policies and procedures.
- Ability to interact and collaborate of a high quality with other team members, internal and external stakeholders such as BPO
- The ability to work under pressure and to handle multiple tasks.
- Flexible to work extended hours.
