Overview
The role of the Senior Data Engineer is to build and optimize data pipelines, moving and transforming data into our Data Platform, with the aim of facilitating reporting and analytical needs and making data available to various teams within IGT. We are currently in the process of unifying two different platforms into a singular data lake, which this role will play a crucial part in this initiative’s success.
What You’ll Do
Design and maintain the Data Platform architecture and data models, improving them in line with new products and business needs
Integrate into the platform a variety of data sources
Develop ETL processes to optimise and improve the data flow, applying verification and monitoring capabilities to ensure a high-level of data quality and to keep failures at a minimum
Understand our datasets and provide guidance to the BI and Analytics verticals on the proper use of these datasets
Stay up to date with the latest technologies, proposing and prototyping the use of new features or tools where suitable
Act as an ambassador of the Data Platform with other technical departments and collaborate on the role of the Data Platform within the organisation.
Collaborate and mentor team members on best practices, design and architecture of our Data Platform
Investigate any data issues and reporting troubleshooting
About You
Minimum 4 years hands on experience in a data team working as an engineer
Expert knowledge of SQL, experience with Snowflake is desirable
Experience in Data warehousing including the ETL cycle and data modelling
Desirable to have experience on Real-Time technologies and Python
Familiar with version control tools such as GIT
Ability to self-organise, work without much instruction, pro-active attitude and a strong team spirit are essential
Passionate about data and analytics
Be knowledgeable and comfortable with agile squads and methodology
