The Principal Network Engineer role primary responsibility is supporting the global communications North America network engineering strategy including our core wide area networks and perimeter security network research and development. The role work will report to our level 6 North America consulting engineer to help create strategic vision with input to our product roadmap as well as cost estimations to aid product funding. Pre-sales support working with network engineering senior director to support internal and external customers. Tasked to educate peers on how to integrate our network technology utilizing the latest and future technologies and delivery methodologies within new and specific account solutions. 
Provide oversight and technical support to network delivery/ operation activities for network procurement, migration, and billing projects for North America. Help team in supporting network architecture for security perimeter, LAN/ WAN access and other roadmaps.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on cutting-edge core network technologies and security perimeter
  • Input vision and roadmap ideas for the LAN DC including cloud and last mile network solutions
  • Support strategy in readiness for piloting new services and products. Collaborate with vendors to develop plans to test and pilot technologies that benefit our product and service roadmaps
  • Support network perimeter strategy. Collaborate with vendors to test and pilot technologies prior to production deployment
  • Develop relationships with network partners to continually develop our network solutions and current infrastructure
  • Provide project technical support for roadmap and internal North America projects 
  • Support core products including Juniper routers, Fortinet firewalls/ IDS, A10 ADC, Cisco, and Arista switching and our core US network that utilizes Lumens/ Comcast private access.
  • Provide L3 support to network delivery and operations groups

Basic Qualifications/ Experience

Bachelor degree from an accredited college/ university in communication engineering, or other closely related field
At least 5 years of professional experience in both technical and commercial aspects of telecommunications, with at least 3 years of experience working with senior personnel

Preferred Skills 

  • Develop network solutions/ products to solving business problems 
  • Conducting analysis to help define product strategy
  • BGP Routing, load balancing, Firewalls, Switching
  • CCNP, CCNA, CCIE, CCSA, FCNSP, CISSP an advantage
  • Fortinet Network Security Expert, NSE 4 or above an advantage
  • Network automation tools such as GIT and Ansible
  • Python programming and Linux networking an advantage
