Overview

 

DevOps Engineer has responsibilities for the development, management and maintenance of many elements of the Video Systems CI/CD solution. The DevOps Engineer will help guide the team in establishing goals and objectives for the teamwork products and be seen as an expert in many of the job skills required.  They will help define the strategy for many components of the DevOps process for the deployment of both on-premises and cloud-based environments and a continual process improvement model. They will work on most of the elements of the DevOps lifecycle. They will communicate openly with other senior level colleagues and will be seen as a key contributor for the DevOps process for the company. Throughout this activity they will champion best practice methodologies and help lead the DevOps team to increase efficiency and minimize complications and delays.

What You’ll Do

 

System Deployments 


Developing the DevOps strategy, goals and objectives, the DevOps Engineer will:
Work to establish and continually improve the DevOps strategy and DevOps procedures used to build, test, deploy, monitor, and improve system environments on-premises or in AWS cloud domains.
Coach team members on their responsibilities and understanding of the full DevOps strategy and continual improvement model.
Ensure that the DevOps product is well architected to ensure a high level of consistency and efficiency.
Responsible for completing detailed documentation of the DevOps Strategy and procedures
Reviewing any recommendations or Tickets on procedural gaps, recommended changes/improvements to the DevOps process and establishing solution recommendations.

Maintaining IGT product deployment technical proficiency and understanding of the tools, configurations, deployment and monitoring management process.
Maintaining general industry knowledge of DevOps tools, methodologies, and solutions.
Maintaining industry knowledge on AWS Cloud tools and operating environment.

About You

 

Bachelor of Science Degree with additional Education/Training or equivalent experience. 
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a DevOps related field and an expert understanding of current DevOps principals and best practices.
Proven experience in a technical field including at many of the following:  AWS Cloud deployments, Container Administration, CI/CD tools and methods, Configuration Management tools and methods, Version control tools & methods. 

 

Practical experience and skills with many of the following: 

Infrastructure: Terraform, VCenter, VMWare, S3, IDM
Cloud Platform: AWS
Containers: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm
CI/CD: Jenkins, GitOps
Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana or their AWS counterparts
Linux: Administration (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), Scripting (Bash)
Configuration Management: Puppet, Ansible
Version control: GitHub Enterprise
Programming Languages: Python, Ruby, Go
Issue Tracking: JIRA 
Products: Postgress, JBOSS, Spring Boot, Redis, RabbitMQ, Nginx or their AWS counterparts
