Responsibilities

  • The Systems Administrator defines, designs and administers network systems used for data communications and recommends improvements necessary to ensure operation of the company's high traffic, business critical internet production environment.
  • Responsible for making sure that the company network always works.
  • Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks.
  • Proposes and implements network system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the network system.
  • Applies capacity planning to business recommendations.
  • First point of contact for performance analysis, scalability and service architecture/database administration issues.
  • May be asked to coordinate equipment orders including terminals and cable installation, as well as upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing the database/systems.
  • Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirement.
  • Negotiates and places orders with common carriers.
  • Demonstrates a persistent commitment to meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations while also achieving the goal of reducing the risks and costs of providing services.
  • Works to build an effective partnership with the internal customer on a daily basis.  Listens to customers and asks the appropriate questions to determine their requirements.  
  • Collaborates with other parts of the organization as required to first share and analyze customer requirements and then develop and implement the best strategy and processes to meet those requirements.
  • Adheres to service level agreements by following established performance requirements.
  • Follows IT best practices by following established IT best practice processes and procedures. 
  • Adheres to Incident Management process and performs assigned incident identification, notification, documentation, and intermediate level diagnosis and remediation activities.  
  • Follows Change Management processes and performs assigned change activities including monitoring and tracking change activities.  Participates, documents and oversees network maintenance activities to ensure activities are completed with SLA requirements.
  • Adheres to Audit Management process and procedures and performs assigned actions to capture audit evidence criteria.
  • Ensures all system access, added/removed/modified is documented per audit controls.
  • Performs System access reviews in accordance with audit specifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 10 years of work experience; 5 years of related experience is required.
