Overview

A Software Developer plays a critical role as a part of a team at IGT, the industry leader in wager gaming machines. As a technical contributor, you will focus on software development, gaming platforms, and game development tool/process. Specifically, research, design, develop, modify, debug, review, test and document C# object-oriented software.
 
You will also be working with Studios and other teams outside the department on process, tools, DevOps, software development kits and backend services. This role offers a wide variety of technical challenges to solve and innovative slot game-play concepts, process improvement, networked gaming, distributed computing, and finding creative ways to meet the needs of groups across multiple game studios.
 

Responsibilities

* Conduct and execute technical analyses to design and implement a Software Development Kit (common libraries for game studios to use/ base layer for games to develop on)
* Design, code, unit test, review, document and debug software that meets the product or customer requirements
* Participate in the development of software engineering solutions with guidance from the senior staff members
* Interface with game studios
* Provide explanation or interpretation to assigned technical and non-technical audiences
* Contribute to the process improvement of the team
* Escalate complex technical issues or requests to management
* Consult with engineering managers/technical leads on software designs

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Strong understanding of statistics, discrete math and other mathematical concepts
* Experience in software development process such as Agile or Scrum
* Excellent C++/C# style programming skills
* Working knowledge on version control system, build tool, and process
* Self-motivated and team-focused
* Demonstrates strong collaboration skills, working side-by-side among disciplines with varying levels of technical understanding
* Able to effectively define, communicate, and explain the technical design and concept
* Strong problem-solving skill and ability to work independently

First Year goals:
By the end of year one, individuals who excel as a Software Developer will be equipped to independently implementation software features and possibly lead their next project from the engineering perspective through the following first year goals:
 
* Start contributing to production libraries within 8 weeks of arrival
* Build professional relationships with peers through immersion in the engineering team and game studios
* Familiarize the entire Software Development Lifecycle by close of the year 
* Understand Agile principles and Scrum methodology
* Architect an application subsystem for long term maintainability using SOLID principles
* Design and implement 3+ project features independently by close of the year
