Overview

This is a key position on Accounting Operations Team responsible for supporting areas including General Ledger, Intangibles, Megajackpots, Lease Accounting and Fixed Assets functions.  Successful candidate will have monthly responsibilities including oversight of General Ledger accounts to review and reconcile each month, journal entries, and variance analysis. This position will assist in the close process, and complete internal control procedures to ensure Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance. There will also be quarterly and annual reporting requirements including, but not limited to, annual disclosures, regulatory compliance reports, and governmental census reports. The successful candidate must have strong organizational skills, be self-motivated and able to work in a fast paced, dynamic, high-pressure environment. The candidate will be a team-oriented individual with proven record of project completion and assisting in team mentorship and departmental development. The candidate will be a go-to person for the manager to drive business objectives forward from project onset to completion. As needed, the candidate may be required to work with IT on ERP enhancements, research industry standards or write business summaries for management review. 
 

Responsibilities

•    Complete month end tasks successfully, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting.
•    Cross training with staff to understand processes and trouble shoot problems as needed.
•    Completion of all internal and external reporting.
•    Performing internal control procedures to ensure Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance.
•    Successful contribution to accounting organization goals including, but not limited to, shorten close, document all desktop procedures, identify/implement process improvements, team development. 
•    Interacting with various business partners daily and contributing to specialized reports for broad-based audiences, demonstrating proficiency in SAP and Excel.
•    Cross training within department. 

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance plus 4-6 years accounting or related experience
•    Strong analytical skills and GAAP knowledge required
•    Previous experience with managing large volume of data
•    Foreign currency bank reconciliation experience is highly preferred
•    Intermediate to advanced PC skills with emphasis on spreadsheet application (Microsoft Excel – databases, pivot tables, macros, etc.)
•    SAP or similar ERP accounting software experience is a plus
•    Must be able to work cross-departmentally and have a strong understanding of process controls to ensure proper financial postings.
