The Role


Counsel/Senior Counsel (Commercial) 

Location: Hybrid / Manchester (Media City/Salford Quays)

Role Description:

The IGT Legal Department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional who will provide general commercial law support, with a focus on review, negotiation, and drafting a wide range of commercial agreements, including technology supply agreements, tender contracts and partner/collaboration agreements for our Global Gaming and Global Lottery business segments. The main focus of this position is operations in Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA), Asia, Australia and New Zealand (APAC). 
As part of the IGT Legal Department, you will provide legal support for IGT business teams operating in the Gaming and Lottery sectors. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performance environment, helping IGT manage a wide range of legal and business challenges. 


The UK Legal Team consists of 7 lawyers across offices in Manchester and London, and forms part of the global legal team (comprising over 60 people in total). This position will report directly to the Senior Corporate Counsel – EMEA & APAC located in Manchester. 



•    Work in a fast-paced environment in collaboration with business partners, customers and other lawyers within the group to provide pragmatic commercial advice.
•    Work directly with EMEA and APAC business managers in the Gaming and Lottery business segments, providing day-to-day commercial contracts advice and strategic support.
•    Draft, review, negotiate and interpret a wide variety of B2B contracts with customers and partners in the EMEA and APAC regions for the supply and licensing of national lottery systems and commercial gaming customers including associated content and related products and services.  
•    Advise Gaming business directly in relation to collection of debt.
•    Provide drafting support and advice to Gaming sales operations team.
•    Assist with the set up and contractual requirements for the Gaming business in the Eastern European region. 
•    Identify and advise internal clients on legal risks, mitigation, pre-litigation disputes and resolving a wide variety of issues that arise in existing commercial relationships. 
•    Assist in the management of external legal counsel. 
•    Contribute to global legal team projects and strategic objectives.

•    0-4 years PQE (law firm or in-house) (as a guide only; we will consider all candidates that demonstrate they meet our key requirements regardless of PQE)
•    Legal areas of expertise: Contract/Commercial law, Technology and Intellectual Property. 
•    Self-motivated team player with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
•    Customer-oriented interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with large cross-functional teams (including representatives from finance, regulatory/compliance, operations and People & Transformation (HR)).
•    Ability to communicate legal concepts and issues effectively to internal business clients at all levels of the organisation and excellent written skills.
•    Personal energy to proactively address situations and adopt a positive approach.
