We are seeking a passionate, adaptive, and hard-working Mathematician/Game Designer that is ready to apply their skills in this fast-paced creative industry, with a special emphasis on maintaining and designing best-in-class progressive jackpot experiences. With many new types of jackpots planned and new jurisdictions accepting our existing ones, there is a bigger need to validate individual jackpots, track behavior over the lives of jackpots, and be able to explain the big picture to internal stakeholders when necessary.

This position will work directly with our online studio in the Pacific timezone, and support our studios in Manchester, Belgrade, and China.
 

Responsibilities

· Collaborate and partner with game producer to create best-in-class game experiences, that involve varied jackpot types including Multi-Level Progressives, omni-channel (Casino and Online), and Wide Area Progressives such as MegaJackpots and Powerbucks, and bolt-ons
· Actively work on multiple projects concurrently, as each Mathematician works on multiple games in tandem, at various stages of completion
· Employ meticulous attention to detail to achieve optimal designs, including math models, game logic, par sheets and customer-facing communication
· Test mathematical outcomes to assure quality and that accurate calculations are achieved (through excel and programming)
· Create prototypes to demonstrate viability of innovative mechanics
· Maintain active field research, analysis and industry knowledge to clearly understand and convey player profiles to develop new features and products
· Create and own writing the game logic for all assigned games utilizing proprietary tools
· Extensively play test all games in studio development with detailed verbal or written feedback around all aspects of the player experience: math, art, sound, messaging, game pacing and user interface
· Analyze performance data from the marketplace to help identify future game mechanics and industry trends
· Understand different market preferences in Europe, Canada, North America, and specific lottery-based casino customers
· Collaborate with other designers to create math and playtest prototypes, keep our Game Model Matrix (game characteristics) up to date, and to improve our templates and processes
· Work with producers, artists, engineers, and others throughout development, across all of our online studios
· Pitch innovative ideas
· Peer review documentation
· Support 3rd parties
· Support conversions of highly rated IGT land-based titles to compelling online experiences
· File patent applications

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer science (or equivalent math-oriented degree with strong mathematical skills)
* Strong expertise in Combinatorics, Probability Theory and Statistics
* Basic programming knowledge and aptitude for learning advanced programming techniques
* Industry experience with for-pay jackpot products. Bonus points for progressives that support multiple currencies.
* Detail-oriented and can prioritize and work on multiple projects at a time
* Must be able to work independently, as well as in group/team settings
* Must be able to clearly explain and present technical and non-technical ideas

Preferred Qualifications
* Master’s degree or higher in mathematics (equivalent math-oriented degrees are considered), or 5+ years’ experience in field using probability
* Background in advanced probability, dynamical systems, dynamic programming, or graph theory is a plus
* Extensive experience with mathematical model building
* Ability to build and maintain working relationships

* Familiar with and interested in gambling games
