SUMMARY

The Plant Engineer position is responsible for designing, planning, installing, and maintaining the facility systems and equipment in coordination with the maintenance team. This position will oversee capital improvement projects, while maintaining project timeline and budget. This role will be key in developing ongoing product and process innovations and improvements, in partnership with the senior and executive management teams. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

LEADERSHIP

  • Maintain, approve and monitor daily, weekly, and long-term work schedules for the engineering team
  • Develop, implement, manage and inspect the tasks assigned to the engineering team 
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of engineering team while providing ongoing supervision
  • Commit to employee feedback and development through the management performance evaluations, goal setting, recognition and disciplinary action for the engineering department
  • Plan and conduct meetings with the team to ensure conformance with standards based on goals and objectives 
  • Ensure compliance with all site specific polices and safety requirements

 

ENGINEERING

  • Coordinate activities with the Maintenance Manager for special projects, capital improvements, equipment installations, and other engineering updates within the facility
  • Provide an efficient interface with all automation and validation processes and provide training to staff
  • Design appropriate programs to reduce all downtime
  • Collaborates with management, suppliers and manufacturing supervision to identify and implement continuous improvements
  • Establishes standards and policies for installation, modification, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations
  • Capable of developing detailed equipment specifications, pre and post commission testing, vendor qualifications, and operational programs to optimize equipment performance
  • Validate all systems and prepare required documents for all installation
  • Provide an efficient interface with engineering department to evaluate all upcoming capital projects and analyze and obtain required feedback for all equipment and layouts
  • Tests newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications
  • Reporting of engineering metrics such as timelines, costs, and repair estimates
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems


OPERATIONS

  • Ensure compliance to all state and federal regulations
  • Identify, prioritize, and provide resources to meet the annual operating plan and budget commitments
  • Monitor all capital improvement projects and organize various performance appraisals and recommend training programs as per requirement
  • Collaborate with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity of all plant engineering programs
  • Assist in the development of preventive/predictive maintenance programs in coordination with maintenance team
  • Analyze all equipment requirements and assist in requisition of tools and supplies to meet those requirements
  • Review and maintain project activity logs
  • Assist to resolve all issues and provide support for all engineering activities and participate in all facilities maintenance meetings
  • Review and recommend improvements of SOPs and troubleshoot plant activities to resolve issues 
  • Document and prepare reports and maintain updated data in the work order system

Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field of study

 

Experience Required

5+ years experience in an industrial engineering capacity within manufacturing
2+ years experience in a senior engineering or maintenance leadership capacity

 

Skills Required

Skilled in the manufacturing, industrial and plant engineering principles
Knowledge of standard engineering concepts, practices, and procedures
Experienced in developing clear and detailed work instructions\
Demonstrated experience in identifying areas of improvement and managing the associated change process
Strong knowledge facilities machines and equipment
Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Education, Experience or Skills (preferred degree(s), software, experience, equipment, etc)
Master’s Degree in engineering a plus
Industry related certifications a plus (i.e. PMP)
Knowledge of press or printing operations preferred
