Overview

The SQA Engineer will develop, document, and complete test plans to verify systems perform as the need arises, with a focus on the accounting product which includes retailer financial reports (lottery terminals and Lottery Service Portal (LSP – web-based portal). This includes organizing, designing, planning, directing, and assisting in all software testing activities. The role manages customer acceptance testing (CAT) to ensure customer approval and a smooth delivery of requested changes.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Texas Lottery Commission (TLC) and internal Texas Account Team project kick-off and requirements meetings. This will ensure the scope and functionality is clearly understood to provide mentorship on how the ‘as is’ functions and how the ‘to be’ will function.
  • Augment the TLC’s Technology testing team to evaluate software changes that may have a high likelihood of errors, resulting in sanctions.
  • Conduct detailed QA testing to validate the accuracy and completeness prior to production installs.
  • Accounting experience across multiple testing environments and testing scenarios to balance across systems is helpful.
  • Handle requirements and testing for all TLC one-off solutions, including the 2nd Chance Draw end-to-end solution, Voice Response System (IVR), RFID solutions, and other warehouse & business operations innovation projects.
  • Work across multiple departments (IGT and TLC) to ensure engagement to achieve objectives and meet achievements.
  • Identification and implementation of new testing tools and automation that can be used across projects to decrease manual testing efforts for both the TLC and IGT.
  • Identify the impact and root cause of defects found to ensure accurate resolution and retesting.
  • Ensure timely notification of risks and issues to management and make appropriate recommendations to mitigate.
  • Act as a key technical go-to resource for the Texas Account Team.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience with strong mathematical or accounting / finance testing experience.
  • 4 – 7 years experience in testing across multiple environments, preference of lottery domain experience, working on various software/system deliveries.
  • Ability to write SQL is a plus to verify Business Intelligence reports.
  • Experience working and testing lottery mobile apps and web applications.
  • Working with a diverse, disbursed engineering delivery team.
  • Ability to master sophisticated financial subject matter.
  • Ability to formulate test strategy, test planning and test data creation and documentation.
  • Have strong technical skills, both functional and non-functional, manual and automation, ideally in a continuous delivery environment.
  • Technical skills to understand development environments, solution architecture, servers, version control, data modeling, scripting, and test automation tools.
  • In-depth understanding of API testing methodologies, client/server applications.
  • Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software applications and networks.
