Responsibilities

 

Provides intermediate level monitoring and troubleshooting for operating equipment and 24x365 adherence to operational procedures, checklists, policies, and national IT Best Practices.  


 PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates a relentless commitment to meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations 
  • Performs basic to intermediate level troubleshooting of network technologies all IGT deployed network systems according to established procedures, using existing tools under minimal supervision. 
  • Performs basic to intermediate level network monitoring 
  • Submits recommendations to improve network monitoring functionality and service and assists the network monitoring team with implementing approved recommendations.
  • Performs basic to intermediate level monitoring and/or troubleshooting by using tools for verification of services, and detecting, reporting, escalating, and documenting anomalies according to established procedures.
  • Accurately executes checklists to ensure that all maintenance activities, change requests, network system functionality, validation of network system locations/status, and internal/external customer re-quests are completed.  
  • Adheres to service level agreements by following established SLA performance requirements
  • Adheres to IT best practices by following established IT best practice performance including but not limited to:  Incident Management, Change Management, Release Management and Audit Management.

    • Moderate – intermediate knowledge level of multiple network operating systems and applica-tions.
  • Diversity - Locations Responsible for or Influenced:    
    • Medium to High– Responsible for multiple customers/locations.  
  • Typical Job Problems and Difficulties:
    • Provides resolutions to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope.  
  • Financial Accountability:
    • Medium – Mistakes could lead to costly penalties, downtime, etc.

MANAGEMENT

  • Job Reports to (direct):
    • Technology Manager.
  • Job Reports to (indirect):
    • Operations Supervisor or Manager.
  • Direct Reports to Job:
    • N/A    

GENERAL

  • Extent decisions governed by procedures or referred up:
    • High – majority of actions dictated by policy / procedure or must be escalated to more senior perational staff or management for resolution.
  • Opportunity and consequence of typical errors (supervision):
    • Moderate / High – Issues must be escalated as required by SLA's and IT Best Practices to avoid financial penalities.
  • Frequency and complexity of internal business contacts:
    • Frequent with low / moderate complexity – contact 24x7 with most technical support staff, site operations staff and managers as well as Enterprise Systems staff.
  • Frequency and complexity of external business contacts:
    • Moderate with moderate / high impact – deals with IGT customers and third party vendors daily.
  • Physical - % time: travel, operating machinery, environmental etc.:
    • Minimal physical requirements – low travel, works in environmentally controlled computer room.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION

  • Minimum education:
    • Two year technical college degree or comparable experience.
  • Years’ Experience:
    • 2-3 years preferred.
  • Minimum technical knowledge and skills requirements:
    • Basic knowledge of IP protocols, window command line and Cisco equipment.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Office suite and PC operating systems.
    • Entry level knowledge of WAN topology associated monitoring and troubleshooting tools, data center network equipment and network cable specifications.
    • Network Related:    
      • Basic level - WAN topology, Cellular and Satellite technologies, associated monitoring and troubleshooting tools.  Data Center network equipment and network cable specifi-cations.
  • Other requirements: 
    • Must be able to work all holidays as shift requires (24x7x365 operation), may work up to 12 hour shift.
