The Commodity Purchasing Team is responsible for the critical role of strategic sourcing both products and services with accountability for spend across the organization. This role owns the development of initial commodity strategy, supplier relationships, and monitoring and maintaining the implemented strategy on an ongoing basis.
 

  • Build commodity sourcing strategies that align to overall IGT strategy.
  • Oversee commodity strategy implementation activities to deliver expected business value.
  • Provide commodity specific subject matter expertise and insights to internal clients and regular status updates of all projects to leadership.
  • Leverage current and future business requirements, market intelligence, and historical spend to develop innovative commodity strategies that drive cost reduction, enterprise consistency, and business value.
  • Collaborative planning and partnership with tactical procurement.
  • Adhere to commodity and procurement metrics and savings targets, monitor performance, and communicate these to stakeholders.
  • Create a commodity specific initiative plan that will forecast and direct procurement projects and sourcing activities.
  • Maintain expertise in various commodities through relationships with sourcing teams, business units, suppliers, market experts, and global/regional liaisons. Know and apply value chain and value stream concepts.
  • Identify business opportunities and provide commodity-related insights and recommendations through published commodity plans and sourcing.
  • Accountable for driving communication and reporting progress and benefits.
  • Work with internal risk and compliance groups to ensure commodity strategies account for relevant laws, regulations, and risk policies.
  • Act as change agent and advocate for procurement as a value-added function.

Qualifications

 

  • 3 - 7 years of category management, procurement, or purchasing experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical degree
  • Innovative Thinking: Proven ability to connect ideas, events, and circumstances to find Commodity management solutions to business problems or goals.
  • Applies flexible approach(es) to achieving Commodity management results in dynamic situations.
  • Skilled in change adoption, change management, and resource assessment.
  • Energetic and self-motivated.
  • Collaborative in ideas and approach in sourcing and working successfully as part of a team.
  • Experience influencing others to voluntarily adopt Commodity Management practices.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Project, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • BA, BS, or MBA in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager or Certified Professional in Supply Management certifications.
  • Collective experience working in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Sourcing, or similar business practices.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience utilizing financial and data-driven techniques to make decisions.
  • Understand main procurement processes and be able to communicate basic topics with supplier and internal cross functions. (Manufacturing & Distribution Procurement experience).
  • Must be willing to learn and drive a change in a global environment, along with ability to influence through effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with SAP and Productivity Management System.
  • Collaborative approach to working within a team environment - a consensus builder.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Cost & risk management skills:
    • Mature understanding of multiple aspects of supply chain value stream.
    • Supplier financial risk evaluation & management.
    • Supply Chain Risk evaluation & management.
  • Commodity & product knowledge:
    • Individual must be able to quickly develop comprehensive understanding of respective commodity, and subsequentially complex sourcing strategies.
    • Negotiations and supplier relations management experience.

At IGT, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $118,000/yr - $125,000/yr. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.

 

Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program.  Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses .  In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance.
